current focus
2026 art quilt
started in feb 2026. this is the first big thing i started and i thought i could get it done by the end of 2026. that's the goal. we will see. you can see my cat in this picture above the applique roy on the quilt. this not all connected and doesn't have batting or a backing. LOTS TO DO! I KNOW! DONT WORRY!

about me
i'm emily. i started really handstitching this year. i came across k3n's youtube channel featuring slowstitching and was hooked. i've always been artistic, some years more than others, and some years i have more time than others. this has been a good year to have some time to create.
im in love with the log cabin and the way traditional quilt blocks come together—like the sawtooth star and the ohio star. its all so cute and fun, and i like figuring it all out. i generally dont do much measuring, preferring instead to kind of figure it out as i go.
all of my materials are second hand from thrift stores, rummage sales, old clothes, or whatever. the thread is gutermann 100% cotton or embroidery floss that i find out and about. mostly improv, and i NEVER use a pattern from someone else. i mean i try to keep my corners and points together when i feel like caring about it, but i dont always care. nothing against precise quilters either! i just like the more weird and "organic" shapes and it feels like im kind of following the cloth or the project. its art, i dont know. it makes me feel better.
